West Chester University Partners with Avive Solutions for Campus-Wide CPR & AED Training Day During Family Weekend 2026

SAN FRANCISCO, CA - [November 2, 2026] - Avive Solutions, Inc., manufacturer of the Avive Connect AED®, will host a campus-wide CPR and AED training event at West Chester University of Pennsylvania (WCU) on Friday, November 6, 2026, at WCU's campus, 700 S. High Street, West Chester, PA. The training coincides with WCU Family Weekend 2026 (Nov. 6-8), the university's annual tradition inviting families - affectionately known as "Ram Fam" - to explore campus, take part in student-oriented activities, and experience the Golden Ram community.

The event will be held in coordination with WCU Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the WCU Department of Public Safety, both of which will be on site throughout the day to support instruction and answer questions from students, families, faculty, and staff.

A Campus Already Prepared

West Chester University is home to more than 17,000 undergraduate and graduate students, WCU is the largest of Pennsylvania's 10 state-owned universities. The campus already has 68 Avive Connect AEDs deployed across its grounds, accessible to students, faculty, staff, and visitors in the event of a cardiac emergency. This training day builds on that infrastructure by giving the campus community hands-on experience with the equipment before an emergency ever occurs.

Why It Matters

Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) is the leading cause of death on school campuses nationwide and the number one cause of death among student athletes. Nationally, only about 1 in 10 people survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. But in schools equipped with AEDs and trained responders, survival rates climb to roughly 66% - more than six times the national average.

Hands-On Training at Scale

To make large-scale, simultaneous instruction possible, Avive is supplying 25 AEDs and CPR manikins for the event. Rather than learning the steps of emergency response in theory alone, participants will get hands-on practice:

Recognizing the signs of cardiac arrest
Beginning chest compressions
Operating an AED in a simulated emergency scenario

The format allows large numbers of Family Weekend attendees - students and their visiting families alike - to train together throughout the day.
